Did Donald play the drums while at Salem High School?

It doesn't seem that long to me since Don passed away. We were not close friends but I had/still have great respect for him. He taught my drummer so well that he could follow my hand written scoring reminders. That's much better than average for a rock band member. Don did marry someone that was a good friend of mine. I never wanted her to hurt but his passing is just a part of life isn't it? My prayer now, for Nancy and the kids, is to not be suffering so much as 10 years ago. Time doesn't heal so much as it scars over the pain. It still will hurt (mostly but not only) when his memory is vividly remembered. I will always remember him as someone who tried to do the best for me that he could. He was a good man.

Nancy: It's been many years since we last spoke. I see you found your great love and lived a wonderful life with him. I lost Linda some years back and do empathize with some of how you feel. Your heart was always in your music and that will sustain you while you heal; and you will heal. My prayers are with you and yours.

Dear Nancy,
It's been a long time since I have seen you or Don, but time does not ease the pain of hearing of Don's passing. He was a wonderful man who was nothing but kind. I really looked up to him as both a mentor and a musician. He will truly be missed. You'll be in my thoughts in prayers.

Dear Nancy,

I don't know if you remember me, but as a high school student in the 70's, I studied with Don at the Hartford Conservatory. I learned much more than music from him, and now, as a middle school music teacher, I use many of his words of wisdom with my own students.

I was surprised and deeply saddened when I heard of his passing. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your family.

Nancy ~
So sorry to read of Don's passing. He was such a strong figure in the music world in the Hartford area. It was always a pleasure to talk with him at The Music Score when stopping in for meetings of CSMTA and to purchase music. Caring thoughts to you and the family - may God guide you through this difficult time. Don will be the king of percussion in heaven.

My condolences to Nancy and Don's family. He was a friend for years and my memories of him as a classmate at Hartt are so vivid. He was a respected musician by his peers wherever he went and with whatever he pursued. I am so sorry to learn of his death.
