Doreen Ann Shea

Doreen Ann (Blackwell) Shea RN, 46, of Strawberry Fields, Lisbon, died unexpectedly in Groton Sunday (November 16, 2003). She was born Feb. 6. 1957 in New London daughter of Erling H. Blackwell of Sprague and the late Mary (Magill) Blackwell. On June 17, 1995 she was married to Glen S. Shea in the 2nd Congregational Church in New London. He survives her. She had worked in long-term care for numerous years in New London County including Summit Convalescent Home and the Villa Maria in Plainfield, where she was the Director of Nursing. She is currently employed at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, assigned to the Medical teaching floor, which she truly enjoyed. She was also an avid gardener, she loved her flowers and growing her vegetables, she loved her summer vacations on Block Island. and her getaways on Martha's Vineyard. Doreen was extremely proud of her five beautifully talented children who survive her, Heather of East Hartford, Shaun of Temprere, Finland. Tara, Collin and Ian all at Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home, 490 Voluntown Rd., Rt. 138, Jewett City. Internment will follow in Laysville Cemetery, Old Lyme. Calling hours are Friday 5-8 p.m.
