SVEC, Doris L. (Wanamaker)
Doris S. (Wanamaker) Svec, 91, died Sunday, May 12, in her residence at Leominster Crossing, MA, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 48 years, George P. Svec, died in 1983. She was born in Barnes, KS, on January 25, 1922, a daughter of late Jay and Fanny (Lillibridge) Wanamaker, and had been a resident of Old Saybrook since the 1950's before moving to Leominster, MA a year ago to be closer to her daughter in Lunenburg, MA. She leaves two daughters, Debbie K. McKeever, and her husband, Don, of Lunenburg, and Pamela S. Svec, of Boston, MA; four grandchildren, Ryan Svec, and Josh, Sean and Zack McKeever, and his wife, Sarah; one great-grandson, Jayson McKeever. She was predeceased by her son, Roger Svec, of Old Saybrook, in 2008, and a brother, Kenneth Wanamaker, of Owensboro, KY, and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Svec of Littleferry, CT. Mrs. Svec was an active member of the First Church of Christ Congregational, of Old Saybrook, and once served as a Deaconess of the church.
A Memorial Service will be held for Doris on Wednesday, May 22, at 11 a.m. at the First Church of Christ Congregational, 366 Main St., Old Saybrook, and her burial will follow in the Church Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest, that memorial contributions be made to Meals on Wheels, Estuary Council of Seniors, 220 Main St., Old Saybrook, CT 06475. The Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 763 Mass Ave, Lunenburg, MA, is directing Funeral arrangements.

Doris was such a great friend to my mother for many years, and I was fortunate to spend time with her as well. Many happy memories of our vacations together in St. Augustine, and numerous bus trips! She brightened many of our days, and will be missed. Peter & Nancy (Dolph) Hunt.
