Eleanor Turley Obituary



Eleanor (Dowd) Turley, 94, of Bristol, beloved wife of Nicholas N. Turley, died on Saturday (January 31, 2015) at home where she passed away peacefully with her husband and four children at her side. Eleanor was born in Windsor Locks on November 27, 1920 and was a daughter of the late Timothy and Florence (Cotter) Dowd. She was raised in Windsor Locks where she graduated from Windsor Locks High School before moving to Hartford during World War II. She worked at Aetna Insurance and Fowler-Hunting. Eleanor has resided in Bristol for the past 55 years and was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church in Bristol. In addition to her husband of 68 blessed years, Eleanor is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: William Turley of Bristol, and Paul and Joan Turley of Rumney, NH; two daughters and sons-in-law: Ellen and John Pagliaro of Lutherville, MD, and Jane and Joe Marozzi of Bristol; eight grandchildren: Cleigh Turley of West Hartford, Johanna Turley of Newton, MA, Carolyn Olshan of Cambridge, MA, James Turley of Brooklyn, NY, John Pagliaro of San Francisco, CA, Willy Pagliaro of Boston, MA, and Nick and Joey Marozzi of Bristol. She will be missed by her loving niece and godchild: Jane Bachman of Natick, MA, and nephew: Martin Kearns of Glastonbury. She was predeceased by her three brothers: Francis, Paul, and Vincent Dowd, and sister: Mary Kearns. Funeral services will be held on Thursday (February 5, 2015) at 10 AM from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol to St. Gregory Church, 235 Maltby St., Bristol, for celebration of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Mary's Cemetery, Windsor Locks. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Wednesday between 5 and 7 PM. Memorial donations may be made to St. Gregory Church, 235 Maltby St., Bristol, CT 06010.
