Elizabeth Barisano Obituary

Elizabeth Barisano, a lifelong resident of East Hartford, passed away on July 7, 2022 following a brief illness. She was 96 years of age. She leaves behind her family and a large circle of friends who thoroughly enjoyed her company. For 22 years she worked for the East Hartford Board of Education. She was also a long-time member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and the Red Hat Society. In both organizations she played an active role in assisting in the handling of club business and special events. An excellent chef, her dinners with family and friends were a highlight of the week. Her baking was unmatched, as was her company with family and friends dining out. She was also an avid reader. She leaves her three children and their spouses; Sandra (John) Franklin of Tampa, Florida, Paula (James) MacPherson of South Windsor, and Joseph (Lynnmarie) Barisano of Vernon. She also enjoyed the company of her three grandchildren, Jared Franklin (Margaret) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Michael and Samantha Barisano of Vernon. She did not have the opportunity to meet her great grandson, a recent arrival, Myron Franklin. She was married to Joseph Barisano for 58 years, who predeceased her in 2007. A wake will be held July 25 at D'Esopo Funeral Chapel in East Harford from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Christopher Church in East Hartford at 10 a.m. on July 26. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Edmund Campion Parish in East Hartford.

My mom, Elena Millstein, became friends with Betty through church. They used to go to Paneras every Saturday night after mass. Betty was a sweetheart and helped my mom after my dad passed away. Betty had such a love of life and was always on the go. She was a woman who inspired others to seize the day.
We just learned of her passing and wanted to say how sorry we are for your loss.
