Elizabeth Riccardi Obituary

Elizabeth A. (Clair) Riccardi, 101, of Newington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2017 with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Riccardi. Born in Hartford, daughter of Patrick and Mary (Tierney) Clair, she was a longtime Newington resident and a member of St. Mary's Church. Elizabeth always had a positive attitude and saw the good in everyone and in every situation. She was an excellent listener but also loved telling her grandchildren stories about her life experiences and how proud she was of her Irish heritage. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she leaves her children: Rick Riccardi and wife Joan of Port Charlotte, FL, Sharon Riccardi of East Hartford, and Beverlee Shallcross of Seekonk, MA; her adored grandchildren: Peter Shallcross, Keith Shallcross and Lynne Nero and husband Christopher; "Nana Senior" also leaves her cherished great-grandchildren: Cameron, Britt Clair and Cole Nero. She was predeceased by her siblings: John and Edward Clair and Marie Christie. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Newington. She will be laid to rest beside her husband Frank in West Meadow Cemetery. The Family would like to thank the staff at The Reservoir for the wonderful care they gave to our mother. Dear Sharon- I'm sorry I never met your mother, but I feel like I've known her spirit through you. You have frequently talked about her and how much you love and miss her. I feel like her spirit is part of you and the rest of your family. I am touched by your stories of love and how you miss her. I know that she is with you in spirit, and that is her blessing to you. May she continue to rest in peace. God bless you both. Love, Barry and Lucy-

As time flies by, not a day goes by that Sharon doesn't think of her mother. She prays for her...she talks to her, she remembers so many things from childhood to adulthood. We are grateful that Sharon shares her memories, and we get a loving glimpse of her mother, reflecting from the daughter. God bless you Mrs. Riccardi and God bless your family.

Rick, We know how much she loved you! We sat at a table with your mom at Joan's birthday party a few years ago and she shared what a great son you were. You had a mom for a long time and you always spoke so kindly of her. May you all rest in peace. Carol & Bob
