Ellen R. Zinsser

Ellen R. (Watson) Zinsser, 75, of Manchester, loving wife of 57 years to Carl A. Zinsser passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 of heart complications. She was born on February 26, 1939 in Portadown County Armagh, Northern Ireland daughter of the late Samuel and Evelyn (Mullen) Watson. Ellen was a graduate of Manchester High School, Class of 1957 and had resided in Manchester for over 60 years. She was formerly employed at Macy's Department Store at the Buckland Mall in Manchester. Ellen had served as past President of the Manchester Republican Women's Club as well as past President of the Junior Women's Club. In addition to her husband, Carl, she is survived by her three children, Sandra Werkhoven and her husband, Stephen, Eric Zinsser and his wife, Catherine and Pamala Brophy and her husband, Kevin all of Manchester. Her six loving grandchildren, Scott Werkhoven and his wife, Kari and their son Kadyn, Sean Werkhoven and his wife, Rebecca, Liz Zinsser and Becky Zinsser, Jennifer Leah Brophy and Michael Allen Brophy. Ellen also leaves her two sisters, Lana Darcy and her husband, Kenneth of East Windsor and Carole Owen of Manchester and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Rodney Watson. Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester from 5-8 pm.
