Eric Bengtson Obituary
Eric A. Bengtson, 62 earned his angel wings on Sunday, October 16, 2016. He was best known for his beautiful blue eyes (which will live on through tissue/organ donation), sense of humor, suspenders, and his boots. Born April 24, 1954 in Norfolk, VA, Eric grew up in Middletown, CT and moved to Cromwell, CT in 1981. Eric was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Portland. Nothing was more important to him than his wife of 43 years, Anita; his 3 daughters and their spouses, Christine and Donald Schmitt of Wallingford, CT, Elizabeth and John Legere of Canton, CT, and Robin Bengtson of Middletown, CT; and his 6 grandsons: Brett Bengtson, Devon and DJ Schmitt, Steven Cameron, and Nate and Hunter Legere. Eric also leaves his parents, Richard and Marilyn Bengtson of Cromwell, CT, his sister Karin Larsen from Rhode Island, and his brother Jeffrey Bengtson from California. The family would like to thank the Middlesex Hospital Hospice Department, especially Mary Grace, for keeping Eric "comfartable." A celebration of Eric's life will be held on Saturday, October 22 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 381 Main St., Middletown, CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Appendix Cancer Psuedomyxoma Peritoneal Research Foundation, ACPMP.org, or Middlesex Hospital Vocal Chords, vocalchords20.org./patrondrive/scholarship.

Anita, Chris, Liz, Robin, sorry to hear of his passing, you are all in our thoughts. This photo memorial you have selected of Uncle Rick is most excellent and completely captures his rugged, adventurous outdoorsman nature I remember so fondly. It brings me back to many a Sunday riding this same trail behind the old family homestead of our youth. He meant a lot to our family growing up and he will be missed.
