Floyd Pettibone Obituary

PETTIBONE, Floyd Ernest Floyd Ernest Pettibone, 87, formerly of 150 Ashland St. and a resident of Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown, MA. died Monday (March 12, 2007). He was born in Williamstown, MA. on December 12, 1919 a son of the Daniel and Pearl (Gurney) Pettibone. He served in the U.S. Marine for six years and was a decorated war veteran. He later enlisted in the Marine Corp Reserves and served there for several years. He was employed at the James Hunter Machine Co. in North Adams beginning in 1946; last few years in the Maintenance Department retiring March 23, 1983. After his retirement, he worked part time for several years driving vehicles for several auto companies. He was a musician, saxophonist and clarinetist for 25 years in many bands in and around Berkshire County. He also played the piano and accordion. He was a member Post #125 American Legion and Post #996 VFW. He attended the First United Methodist Church of North Adams, MA. His wife Clara (Stuka) Pettibone whom he married December 12, 1944 died September 29, 2002. Survivors include: Jeanne Moulthrop and her husband Raymond of Clarksburg, MA; a son, Robert F. Pettibone and his wife Ann of West Suffield; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, one greatgrandson, seven step greatgrandchildren, a sister, Marion Sondrini of Pittsfield, MA and a brother Loren Pettibone of Ocala, FL. Funeral services to celebrate the Life of Floyd Ernest Pettibone will take place Friday at 11 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli- Montagna Home for funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St, North Adams, MA. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the Elder Services of Berkshire County through the funeral home.
