Franklin S. Burnham, 89, of Avon, CT passed away peacefully on December 16, 2022 with his family by his side. He leaves his loving wife of 52 years, Carol (Barrett), his 3 children Robert Burnham (Darlene), Stacy Burnham Kesl (Mike), Dwight Burnham III (Jill) and his 4 grandchildren: Crawford, Madelyn, Shawn and Quinn. He also leaves his brother, John Burnham (Debbie) of Hingham, MA and many nieces and nephews. Frank was born on March 2,1933 to parents Dwight Sr. and Bernice (Snyder) Burnham in Bloomfield, CT. He was predeceased by his parents and 2 siblings: Dwight Burnham Jr & Janet Bickford. Frank made his home in Avon, CT where he lived for over 50 years and raised his family. He was a Navy Veteran, a Seabee, long-time member and Past Master of Hiram Lodge #98, a Shriner and a 32nd Degree Mason. A long-time member of Avon Congregational Church, he served on various committees including the Board of Trustees, Building and Grounds, and Trustees for 12 West Main St. He also served on the Board of the Friends of the Heublein Tower for over 15 years. Frank enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and traveled all over the United States with his family, including a two-month trip to Alaska with his wife, his sister Janet and brother-in-law Fred. He started his career with Snap-On Tools, and later went on to work at Austin Organs, owned Wintonbury Farms Trucking in partnership with his brother Dwight and owned a trucking business F.S. Burnham and Sons. Later in life, he finished out his career as General Manager at MacDonald's Garage in Avon. He enjoyed talking with anyone who crossed his path. He also loved his 2 Maine Coon cats, Max and Molly. Frank was a man of his word with a dedicated work ethic and commitment to provide for his family. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 13 from 4:00-6:00pm at Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Rd., Avon, CT., 06001. A Celebration of Frank's Life will be held at Avon Congregational Church, 6 West Main St., Avon, CT 06001 on Saturday, January 14 at 1:00pm. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Frank's memory to Avon Congregational Church.
