Carmen Lamkin Obituary

CARMEN IRENE LAMKIN Died Thursday, July 8, 2004. She was 96. Carmen was born in Butterfield, MN and raised in Duluth, MN. Carmen went to nursing school at U of MN and met and married Laverne A. Lamkin in 1928, living in the mid-west until 1956. Carmen was preceded in death by her daughter, Eunice J. Lamkin, husband, Laverne A. Lamkin and son, John P. Lamkin. She is survived by sons, Kenneth L. Lamkin of Ione, CA; Laverne A. Lamkin Jr. of Hayward, CA; daughters, Elizabeth A. Rogers of Reno, NV, Patricia I. Reis of Sutter Creek, CA and Barbara L. Zettel of Tacoma, WA, as well as 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Carmen was a Christian since childhood and practiced her faith and God's love daily. She was active and participated consistently in Redwood Chapel activities and was a member since 1959. Upon relocating to Hayward in 1956, she worked in nursing at Hayward, Eden and Fairmont Hospitals until retirement. She lived in Hayward for 43 years and moved to Baywood Retirement Center in Castro Valley, CA in 2000, where she enjoyed her retirement and leaves many close friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. Memorial services are tentatively scheduled for Monday, July 26, 2004, at Redwood Chapel. Confirmation to be published later.
