Geraldine Reynolds Green

1936 - 2018

Geraldine Reynolds Green was born on February 22, 1936 in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Carrie Glen Reynolds and William T. Reynolds, and went home to be with her Lord surrounded by her family on Friday, August 17, 2018. She was a life long resident of Hartford, attending Hartford Public elementary and high schools. She studied piano, cello and double bass at the Hartford Conservatory. Gerry continued her education at the Willimantic State Teacher's College, and earned her Master's Degree and Sixth Year Certification at the University of Hartford. She taught in Hartford at Vine Street School, Sand Everywhere School, and Weaver High School. Geraldine was a member of the Hartford Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the Greater Hartford Chapter of the Links, Inc. She served on the boards of the Connecticut Valley Girl Scouts and the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center. A member of the Union Baptist Church, she sang in the Chancel Choir, taught Sunday School, and was a teacher in the afterschool Children's Learning Enhancement Program. Geraldine was honored to serve as a Deaconess. She is survived by her husband Eugene Green, her children Kelly Green of Washington, DC, Mark Green and his wife Lisa, of Dallas, TX, Sonya Green, of Hartford, CT, and Jill Green Naraine and her husband, Steven, from Windsor, CT, eleven grandchildren, and one great grandchild. A celebration of Geraldine's life will take place Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 12PM at Union Baptist Church, 1921 Main Street, Hartford, CT with visitation from 10:30 AM- 12PM.
