COLANGELO, Gina
Gina Colangelo, 44, of West Hartford, passed away peacefully, Sunday (September 23, 2012) at home with her family by her side. She was born September 23, 1968 in Hartford and was the daughter of Gail E. (Brown) Colangelo and the late John P. Colangelo. Gina graduated from Conard High School in West Hartford with the class of 1986. She adored animals, fashion, art, music, physical fitness, creating, and helping others amongst many loves. She donated her time and money to various nonprofit charities in and around Connecticut. A talented businesswoman, Gina owned and operated the Bronze Tanning Salon in West Hartford for 18 years. She helped countless friends and acquaintances through tough times and is often referred to as "everybody's angel." Besides her mother, Gina is survived by her devoted and loving fiancée, Dylan Magee; her sisters, Deborah Migliore and husband, Donald and Susan Muschett and husband, Neil; her brothers, John R. Colangelo and Gary D. Colangelo and wife, Kim; her nieces and nephews, Tiffany, Stacey, Antonio and Mark, great nieces, Mallory, Natalie, Isabella, and Emma; her uncle, Tony Colangelo and his wife Stephanie, as well as a very large number of close and dear friends.
A Blessing at St. Helena's Church, 30 Echo Lane, West Hartford will take place Saturday (September 29) at 10 a.m. Immediately following the Blessing, everyone is invited to join the family at the parish hall in the church for a celebration of her life. Donations in Gina's memory may be made to the Gina Colangelo Cancer Fund, c/o 21 Kimberly Road, West Hartford, CT 06107. Funeral arrangements by the James T. Pratt Funeral Service, Wethersfield. Missing you terribly Bean . Every time I rescue a furbaby, I am thinking of you. I can just hear you telling me, it´s just one (or a few lol) they need you.. and you offering to foster them for me.
Your heart was the biggest and most loving. There was not a person or animal around that did not instantly love you.
Mauser, Mira, BG, & Jake - all adored you the moment they seen you. I will never forget the first call we had. You seemed like a weirdo, and I wasn´t sure I should be bringing you some puppies to see. Man !!! Was I so happy to have brought them. Your weird vibes, was all because of your excitement to meet them.. your `weird´ quickly became that unique loving vibe that only someone who was LUCKY enough to meet you would ever understand.
You were my angel, my greatest ally, in saving lives and standing up for them. I know you were with me today when we saved that precious little skunk.. you are always with me. Thanks for sending those beautiful little kittens over too. Thankful they are doing good. Everything I do with the animals now, is in memory of you & Jenn Marie. I hope you ladies know that you are missed, still loved and still thought about. Everyday and when I close my eyes.
I want your family and friends to know that you will live on.. forever.

Missing you today and every day. Rescued a kitty off the streets. She had 5 little babies and all I could think about was you. Did you send her my way, so she would be safe with these little ones ? Did you know that I needed something to cheer me up ?
You always encouraged me to keep rescuing and saving lives. Reminding me of how important you furbabies were to you. I just wish we could have own more visit, one more hug, one more endless chats about how beautiful life is with the furries around us and how we are never alone. To say I miss you, is an understatement.
You´ll always be my sis and I will never forget how much love you shared with everyone including me and the kiddos. You were amazing and I´m pretty sure you were around today .. this photo was me glanced up in to the clouds to see a butterfly in them ! I didn´t get the pic fast enough .. it started to fly away, but it made my heart smile and I hope me sharing it here will give that peace to those missing you xo muuaah Bean xo

Such a beautiful person on the inside and out. Gina always greeted me with a smile and great conversation whenever I visited her salon. Her smile could light up a room. I remember when you first opened your Bronze Beach. Your face always seemed to lite up when customers walked in and you smiled at us always. I knew Gina back in High School & then reconnected via Facebook in 2009. I always enjoyed reading her positive, inspiring postings daily. She ADORED her dogs & you could see in the pictures that she posted how much she cared for animals and everyone around her. In May, She announced the devastating news of her Cancer. I'll never forget that day. For the last 5 mos we have all followed her on Facebook and when we got the news on Sunday I was shocked. A beautiful, young, vibrant woman taken too young. I send my heartfelt prayers of strength to Gina's family, friends, & her Fiance' Dylan as we all try to make sense of this loss. Gina, you are going to be missed by all of us who knew you. <3

To Mrs. Colangelo, Dylan and the rest of Gina's family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I was lucky enough to come home a couple of months ago for a visit and spend some time with Gina, our mutual friends and her family. I was lucky to know her and call her my friend. Even in my absence we always found a way to stay connected. Bronze Beach was always my 1st stop when I would come home for a visit. I will always remember searching for the perfect donut with Beth and Gina. Not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 Dunkin Donuts later and we did it. I, along with many others will miss her terribly, but I know she is with her Dad again in Heaven and I know I will see her again. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. I wish I could be there with all of you on Saturday to celebrate Gina's life. I will be thinking of all the good times.
