To all of the Lehmus family-
I was saddened to learn of Dr. Lehmus's passing. He was certainly a household word in Manchester and the stories about his gift of a gentle word, and humor will be sorely missed.
I don't know anyone in The City of Village Charm that had anything bad to say about him and hope that thought will comfort you in your time of mourning.

May he rest his black bag on the softest of clouds...

Sincerely and In sympathy-
Joanne ( Slossberg ) Kelly

Dr Lehmus has held a special place in my heart since I first met him in the emergency room at Manchester Hospital in the 1960's. I had a horrific childhood and got married at 16. By age 19 I had two beautiful children. I loved being a mom but my marriage was starting to fall apart. My parents were divorced and I no longer had any contact with either my mom or my father. I had no one to turn to for support or advice. It got to the point where I was having severe anxiety attacks, shortness of breath and chest pains. I ended up in the Manchester Hospital Emergency Room. My heart rate was beating about 120 beat a minute but showed no other signs of a heart problem. Dr Lehmus gave me medication and made an appointment for me to be seen in his office for the following week. When I went to the appointment he sat and talked to me for a very long time. He told me that all I needed was someone to be able to talk to and suggested that I stay on the medication he had given me the week before and come see him weekly to talk. I did just that and in about 3 months I was able to come off the medication and was feeling so much better about life. If it hadn't been for Dr Lehmus's caring and concern I don't know what would have happened to me. I have often thought about this wonderful compassionate man over the years and thank God for bringing him into my life at a time when I was on the verge of a breakdown. Because of his help I have gone on to have a wonderful life. I owe so much to Dr Lehmus. It broke my heart to hear that he passed away. He went above and beyond for me and I'm sure for many other of his patients. My thoughts and prayers are you and your family. May God Bless you and give you comfort and strength in the difficult days a head. RIP Dr Lehmus and thank you from the bottom of my heart!
