STEC, Helen
Helen Stec, 90, of New Britain entered into eternal life on Monday (April 23, 2012) at home. Born in New Britain on October 21, 1921, daughter of the late Joseph and Anastacia (Fal) Stec. Helen attended local schools and graduated from the New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 as a registered nurse. She worked for several doctors in New Britain, including the late Dr. Mason. She later worked as school nurse at different schools in New Britain for 23 years, including Sacred Heart School. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, U-Conn Basketball and enjoyed going with friends to the horse races and day trips, with her girl friends. Helen was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and leaves several nieces, nephews and close friends. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Edward and Roman. A special thanks to Alice, Krystyna and Raymond for all their care and compassion they gave to Helen over the years.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, 8:30 a.m., at Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 9 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church. She will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5-8 p.m., at Burritt Hill.
