Henry J. Dawidowicz

Henry J. Dawidowicz, 94, of New Britain died on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016. He was the beloved husband of the late Lucille T. (Dawnerowicz) Dawidowicz. Born in New Britain, son of the late Albin and Lottie (Kania) Dawidowicz, he was a lifelong city resident. Henry was a Captain in the U.S. Army, 1st Cavalry Div. during WW II and served in the 43rd Div. during the Korean War. He retired from the Peck Spring Co., Plainville after many years of employment. Henry was a member of Sacred Heart Church, where he served on the Board of Directors and was a member of the Holy Name Society. In addition, he was a member of the DAV, Chapter #8. Some of Henry's happiest days were travelling the world with his wife, Lucille, spending summers on Lake Champlain with his family and fishing with his brother-in-law Dave Tartaglia and family. He also enjoyed attending or watching the UConn men's and women's basketball games. Survivors include his two daughters and sons-in-law Pamela and Dr. Raymond D'Amato of Old Saybrook, Gloria and Dr. Richard Alberti of Farmington, his four grandchildren: Nicole and her husband Patrick Sherwood, Andrea and her husband Alan Carniol, Michael Alberti and his fiancé Cristina Thomas and Kristin and her husband Michael Hogan. He was predeceased by his two sisters Emily Kendzior and Albina Januszewski. Henry's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Msgr. Bojnowski Manor for all the care and compassion they gave to him during his time there. Family and friends are invited to call at Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St., New Britain on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church.
