SWANSON, Hugo
Hugo Swanson of Manchester, died peacefully at home, he was 91 years of age. Hugo was born in Worcester, MA the son of Hugo Sr. and Hulda Hejquist Swanson. He attended local school there. He joined the service during World War II. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps training to be an Aerial Gunner. He attended the Roosevelt School of Aeronautics on Long Island, NY. Pratt & Whitney division of United Aircraft hired him for their experimental test lab. He worked 52 years before retiring. He met and married Gloria Ferrell and the couple had four children; David, Linda, Gary and Wendy. They have four grandchildren, Robert Burnham, 20, Michael Burnham, 18, Michelle Burnham, 15 and Kendall Swanson, 12. After retirement the Swanson's travelled, extensively taking cruises of the Caribbean, U.S. Virgin Islands, The Bahamas, Hawaii and Northern Europe. The Swanson's celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last June. They are participants of St. James Church.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday Jan. 26 at 11 a.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester followed by burial in East Cemetery.
