To:.... Kelly Lindquist and children of Ian and Kelly Lindquist.... Ian's parents Ted and Lisa Lindquist.... and to the many other family members of Ian's and Kelly's:
My name is R. Allen Stanford. None of you have ever met me and in all likelihood never will.
I read Ian's obituary in the May 11, 2022 Wall Street Journal. This Memoriam of his passing touched my heart and soul.
I am 72 years old, married to an extraordinary and beautiful Christian woman who has been an inspiration and blessing in my life for the past 46 years. I am the proud father of six children (3 girls 3 boys), who are now adults and all are well educated productive members of society. I am writing this short letter from my perspective as the son of two great parents, and as a husband and father.
Kelly, I know that you and your seven beautiful children, like so many others, will miss this extraordinary man every day the rest of your life. I have to believe that God's eternal plan, no matter how unfair it now seems, will in the end be of enormous blessings to all who knew Ian. God will see you and your children through this terrible loss.
Kelly, anyone who has lived as long as I have has experienced the grief and pain of losing loved ones. So, I understand your grief. My heart aches for you and your family.
But please remember this. We all must never forget that one day we all will exit this worldly life and enter God's perfect heaven. And we must give an accounting of our life lived. No doubt, Ian's life is one where God has smiled and said..."Well done my son" ... "Welcome Home!"
My deepest sympathies and prayers for you all,
R. Allen Stanford

My deepest sympathies to the Lindquist family. Ian was an amazing person who was always upbeat and smiling. I´ll always remember growing up with Ian through our years at Union School, IAR and FHS. I have no doubt that he´s already found a soccer game to join in Heaven.

I also heard many stories about Ian and his successes through life over the past decade from his always proud father. Ted, my heart goes out to you Lisa in this unthinkable time of grief. I'm sure your grandchildren need their "pop pop" now more than ever. I'm sorry I won't be able to attend the funeral in person, but I will say a prayer for Ian this evening.

Dear Kelly, Ted, Lisa, Garth, and children,
There are really no words that could possibly bring comfort for the great loss that all of you have suffered. I had only just heard a few weeks ago about Ian's courageous battle with leukemia and the difficult year all of you have endured. It's surely been a trial that tests even those of the strongest faith and leaves us asking the question, why? Ian's beautiful obituary left no doubt that he never lost faith in God's plan and brought solace to all of you, even to the end. Please know that I will keep all of you in my prayers and hope that in time your sorrow will be replaced with the joy of knowing that, even in his much too short life, Ian left his mark on all of us that were so blessed to know him.
My deepest sympathies for your loss.

I am sorry I did not get to know this amazing human being and his beautiful family. Ted, my heart goes out to you, Lisa, Kelly, the grandchildren, and your extended families. Ian certainly packed more in his years than many do in twice the time on Earth. Peace and gratitude for a legacy which will reverberate long after we move on our Heavenly journeys. Ian was the first born of our amazing tribe of children. He will always be the leader, the one we all look up to, the one who brings wisdom to the conversation and calm to the room. Ian, you will forever live in our hearts. You changed hearts and minds, for that we will be always grateful. Lisa, Ted, Garth, Kelly and children- thank you for sharing this beautiful son- brother-husband-father with us all - your sorrow is held in our hearts as you find peace.
