We offer John's family our deepest condolences for your loss. As our next door neighbor for so many years, John was a true gentleman and friend. His generosity and kindness, his quick wit, and love of soccer endeared him to our family. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

John always lit up the Portland Library when he came in for his books. He sure did love them. His enthusiasm for reading and golf and life in general was very infectious. He loved to tell us all about his family. He was so proud of them.
After visiting his relatives in Scotland, we would kid him about his accent becoming stronger, to which he would laugh even harder and say, "I just can't help myself".
All of us here at the Library will miss him terribly. He truly did enrich all of our lives.

Santina,
So very sorry for your loss. Your husband was such a great guy.....I remember how he used to sit at our table at American Education Publications during our breaks.....he always made us laugh. Those were such happy times. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

I "ALWAYS" enjoyed talking with them (M & D) when they came in for lunch. I felt Ian and I became friends , or perhaps that was just the magic this man made people feel when around him.
God Bless you all and sorry for your loss.
