Irena Kirejczyk Obituary

Irena (Lewicka) Kirejczyk, of Springfield, MA, passed away in her home in the arms of her loving daughters. She was 73. Mrs. Kirejczyk was born in Podgaj, Poland to Aleksandra and Boleslaw Lewicka and was one of nine children. She was married to the late Edward Kirejczyk and together they had five daughters. They immigrated to the United States in 1962 and built a secure and happy life for their children. She was deeply loved and adored by her children and grandchildren. All who knew this kind and gentle woman loved her. Irena's passions were for her family, her faith and gardening. The abundance of flowers surrounding her home, and their splendor, truly reflected her endless capacity to nurture and bring beauty into the lives of all those around her. With the onset of her illness, she drew upon her deep faith in God for strength. She faced each day with quiet dignity and unwavering courage. She was truly inspirational. Mrs. Kirejczyk leaves her daughters, Jadwiga Burke and son-in-law Thomas Burke and grandchildren Thomas and Ania of West Springfield; Celina Gelerman and son-in-law David Gelerman and grandsons Jordan and Noah of Canton, Jasia Kirejczyk and grandsons David and Alexander Sanders of Fiskdale; Helena French and son-in-law George French and granddaughters Brittany and Erika, of Braintree; Dr.Wanda Kirejczyk and son-in-law Don Starsiak and grandchildren Lilliana and Bronson of Simsbury. Mrs. Kirejczyk is survived by her siblings, Jadwiga Matyskiela of Poland, Wladyslaw Lewicki of Poland; Wanda Kaszczewska of Norcross, GA; Amelia Charuba of Alphyaretta, GA; Franek Lewicki of Poland; Witold Lewicki of Norcross, GA and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home, Monday at 10 a.m. with Liturgy in Our Lady of the Rosary Church at 11 a.m. followed by burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

We still can visualize your beautiful Mom coming into church with all her lovely daughters sitting on the side closest to the Church School. She always looked so dedicated, gentle and loving.
