HETSKO, J. Richard John Richard Hetsko, 76, of Middlefield passed away on Friday (April 2, 2004). He was born in Dunmore, PA on June 19, 1927, son of the late John Andrew and Anna Elizabeth (Lesco) Hetsko. He lived in Middlefield for 37 years, previous to that he lived in Dover, DE for 15 years where he worked for Sears and International Latex. He was a long time Sears employee who worked in the Dover, DE, Middletown and Hamden stores. He retired in 1990. He graduated from Keystone Junior College in La Plume, PA and received his B.S. at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. He served in the U.S. Navy, in the Pacific, at the conclusion of World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He was an avid golfer, played varsity football at Bucknell, did considerable refereeing for high school football programs in Delaware. He was a member of the Middlefield Federated Church since 1966. He is predeceased by three brothers, Cyril of Ridgewood, NJ, Chester, of Indiana, and Edward of Dunmore, PA; and two sisters, Rita Piccioni of Florida, and Wilma St. John of Scranton, PA. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Faye (Lyden) Hetsko of Middlefield; two sons, Michael of Milford, Andrew of Killingworth; and one daughter, Anne Elizabeth Jones of Brandon, VT. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kristen Hetsko and Eric Hetsko of Killingworth, and Tyler Jones and Amy Jones of Brandon, VT. There are also many surviving nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the Middlefield Federated Church on Saturday, April 24, at 11a.m. The Rev. Dale Azevedo will officiate. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Middlefield Federated Church Book of Remembrance Fund, 402 Main St., P.O. Box 200, Middlefield, CT 06455.
