Jacqueline Seaman

1927 - 2022

Hanover, NH – Jacqueline B. Seaman died peacefully at Wheelock Terrace on Tuesday October 18, 2022 after a long, full and adventurous life. Born in 1927, Jackie grew up with her twin sisters in West Hartford, CT as part of the extended and accomplished Gersten family. It was at Russell Sage that she met the love of her life, Robert Seaman, a handsome naval aviator who attended nearby Rensselaer. The two were married in 1950, settling first in Dearborn, MI and Fairlawn, NJ before moving with their three sons to Lexington, MA. Jackie was an avid skier and loved heading down the slopes at Mittersill in Franconia, NH where the family had a second home for many years. In addition to raising the boys, Jackie managed a home business, worked at Harvard, was a skillful painter, taught all her sons to sew, and served as an active member of Temple Isaiah. She and Bob played cribbage nightly and traveled extensively, especially once he retired from Raytheon. Dedicated opera fans, they flew to performances at venues across Europe. After relocating to Florida in 2002, Jackie took up golf. She moved from her home at the Sarasota Bay Club to Wheelock Terrace in 2017 to be nearer to family. Jackie was predeceased by her eldest son, Peter B. Seaman, her husband, Bob, and her sister, Judy Dobrow. She is survived by her sons David (Monica) Seaman of Rocky Mount, NC. and Richard Seaman (Liza Draper) of Claremont, NH, as well as her nine grandchildren: Jason Seaman (Melissa), Kate Milley (Steven), Jared Aaldenberg (Emily), Callie Seaman, James Schwartz, Daniel Seaman, Angelika Seaman, Zachary Seaman and Sydney Seaman; and three great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Jacob, and Owen. A graveside service is planned for Thursday, October 20 at Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery in Wethersfield, CT. Messages of condolence can be sent in care of the Weinstein Mortuary, in Hartford, CT. The Seaman family extends its thanks to Wheelock Terrace's staff, the BAYADA Hospice team and TLC Homecare's amazing caregivers. Friends are encouraged to watch the sunset with their loved ones – and enjoy a good glass of scotch in Jackie's honor.
