James Daley Obituary

James F. "Big Jim" Daley, 74, of Coventry, passed away Thursday, (October 17, 2002) at Windham Memorial Hospital from complications of diabetes. Jim was born June 7, 1928 in Hartford, son of the late Joseph Daley and Violet Daley-Fairweather and was a resident of Coventry most of his life. Jim was employed as a sheet metal mechanic for local 40 for about 40 years. He was also a member of the Mason's Uriel Lodge #24 and became a shriner and was affiliated with Valley Scottish Right Mason's of Norwich. Jim belonged to the Moose, Lodge #1440 of Chaplin and the Old Bastards of Willimantic. Jim is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shari and Bill Rand of Coventry; a daughter, Danielle Gage of New York; a daughter-in-law, Denise Daley of Rock Port, MA; three loving granddaughters; former wife and dear friend, Dorothy L. Daley; and many, many dear friends. Jim was predeceased by a daughter, Linda; and a son, Lee. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, October 22, 11 a.m. at the Second Congregational Church of Coventry, 1746 Boston Tnpk. (Rte. 44), Coventry with the Rev. Thomas McMillan officiating. Burial will be private. There will be no calling hours. Coventry Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Tnpk. has charge of arrangements.
