James McCarthy Obituary

It is with such profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of James "Jimmy" McCarthy in the early morning hours of September 6, 2022. Born on January 19, 1975 to Susan (Bertotti) and James E. McCarthy Jr., Jimmy graduated from South Windsor High School, and later from the Data Institute. At the time of his passing he was employed by Empire Industries. Jimmy was an avid electronics fan, and the best "go to" guy for anything about computers. Jimmy loved his music and was Metallica's number one fan; he followed many great guitarists, including his longtime friend growing up, Alex Grossi of the heavy metal band Quiet Riot. His all-time favorite musician/guitarist was Zakk Wylde. A truly humble, quiet and unassuming young man, Jimmy had so many friends and family who loved him deeply and our grief is all consuming. Jimmy leaves behind to mourn his passing, his step-mother Dawn (Vojnich) McCarthy of Windsor, his grandmother Lorraine Bertotti of Florida, his grandmother Shirley Keeler of Windsor, his aunt Cheryl Gill of Manchester, his aunts Donna Bolasevich and her husband Tim of East Granby, and Elizabeth Lawlor and her husband Jay of Windsor, his uncles, Edward McCarthy and his wife Rose of Hamden MA, Albert Keeler and his wife Marion of North Carolina, David McCarthy and his wife Carolyn of Wethersfield, Greg Keeler and his wife Candy of Naugatuck, Brian Keeler and his wife April of Windsor and Michael Vojnich of Newington. Jimmy also leaves behind many special cousins, and many many dear friends, including his roommate Donna Fasulo. He was predeceased by his mother Susan Bertotti Jordan and his stepfather David Jordan, his father James McCarthy Jr, his grandfather James McCarthy Sr, his step-grandfather Albert Keeler, his grandfather David Bertotti, his step-grandparents Ginger and Robert Vojnich, his Uncle Bobby Vojnich, and his furry best friend Zakk. Jimmy, like his Dad, touched so many with his kind, gentle and humble spirit. His spirit of tolerance for those with differing points of view was inspiring. All who knew Jimmy loved him fiercely, and will miss him sincerely. But our faith tells us that he is in a kinder and gentler place. There will be a Funeral Mass at St Joseph Church, 1747 Poquonock Avenue, Windsor CT on Saturday November 12th at 10:00 am.

What an absolute loss! Jimmy was one of the funniest guys I knew. I am so shocked and saddened to learn of his passing. God speed my friend!
