Janice Wasserman Obituary

Janice Pike Wasserman, 85, widow of Alan Wasserman of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, February 21, 2020. Janice was born in Hartford and was daughter to the late Dr. Maurice M. and Pearl (Cramer) Pike. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1952 and was later trained as a secretary. She married in 1956 and was a stay at home mom for her two children until they left home after high school. Janice then resumed her secretarial/receptionist career, working for a number of local businesses including Beckett Law Associates, Chapman Plumbing, Patron's Mutual Insurance Company, and Lehigh Portland Cement. Janice enjoyed bowling, travel, summer vacations at the CT Shore, attending plays and musicals, learning and studying new things, Church fellowship, and above all, time with her family and friends. She was loved by many; her welcoming nature and smile drew people to her. Janice is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughter, Carol Wasserman of Wethersfield; her grandchildren Lindy Duhamel (Dave), Brian Wasserman (Mara), and Sara Pike Wasserman; her three great-grandchildren Kayleigh and Amelia Duhamel and Cameron Wasserman; and her niece Gail Goddard (Bill) and nephew Burke Wasserman. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alan, and son, Lawrence Wasserman. Special thanks to the staff at the Avery Heights Memory Care Unit whose love and caring helped make Janice's final years enjoyable, and also to the Season's Hospice staff who added much comfort and support in her final year. A time of visitation will be held Friday, March 6, 2020 from 4-7 pm at Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, CT. Family and friends are also invited to attend her Memorial Service on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Congregational Church in South Glastonbury (949 Main St., South Glastonbury), with a reception to follow. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, 103 Vision Way, Bloomfield CT 06002, or to Special Olympics Connecticut (SOCT), 2666 State St. #1, Hamden CT 06517.

I'm going to really miss Jan - she was so kind to me as a child, and I enjoyed talking to her as a friend when I grew up. She was a very special woman.

Jan was a wonderful lady. For many years,She shared her beloved lab Elki with us. I will be forever thankful for her generosity. She is now with Alan and Larry and playing with Elki.
God rest Jan.

Thank you, Mom, for your guiding hand, your kind and loving soul and that smile you gifted freely to all those around you. You taught me and your grandkids so many things over the years and I am forever grateful to have been a part of the Wasserman family. It's unimaginable that you, Alan and Larry are no longer on this earth, but we all take comfort in the belief that we will all see each other again, in God's house. Rest easy and know you are loved beyond words.
