Jessie Trotta Obituary

Jessie A. Trotta died peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Middlesex Hospital surrounded by her family. Jessie was the fourth of "Seven Sisters" born on September 20, 1924 to the late Louis V. and Aurora (Ricciuti) Trotta. She was a life-long resident of Middletown who graduated from Middletown High School as the Salutatorian of the Class of 1942. Following graduation, she began her 42-year career with Central National Bank (now Bank of America) as a proof clerk. Over the course of her tenure with the bank her career flourished. In 1954, Jessie became the second female bank officer in Middletown progressing to Trust Officer and ultimately, Vice President. Jessie was a founding member of Wesleyan Potters and it was an important part of her life. She served as Treasurer for many years and was the chair of the Finance Committee for more than 30 years. Her colleagues loved working with her and valued her thoughtful advice. She remained passionate about her ceramic art throughout her life and was dedicated to the Wesleyan Potters organization. Jessie had a great interest in politics that was sparked early in life and she was an active member of the Republican Party. In addition to pottery and politics, she was an avid reader and traveler. Jessie is survived her sisters, Rose Franco of Mattituck, NY, Emma Kuchta of Mansfield, CT, Ida Pedrolini of Southington, CT and Josephine Poliner of Wallingford, CT. She was predeceased by her sisters Jane Satagaj of Middletown, CT and Ernestine Messer of Falmouth, MA. In addition to her four surviving sisters, she leaves behind fourteen loving nieces and nephews as well as twenty-four grandnieces and grandnephews and ten great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. Spending time with her family gave her great joy. We are all made better by having had Jessie in our lives and she will be greatly missed by all. Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 2nd from 9-10:30 at D'Angelo Funeral home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, March 2 at St. John Church, 19 St. John Square, Middletown, CT. Donations may be made in her honor to the Wesleyan Potters Memorial Fund.

I remember Jessie fondly when I worked at Hartford National Bank in the late sixtes, early seventies. I was one of a foursome who played pinoccle at luch time. We all enjoyed the game together. My condolences go out to her family. Sincerely

I have some of Jessie's pottery given to me by her niece, who loved her dearly. I will always treasure the beautiful unique pottery and keep Jessie's memory with them. My condolences to the family.

Jessie was a good friend and enjoyed so many visits with her. Her achievements in both her work at the bank and with Wesleyan potters certainly are an inspiration to many. Family was very important to her and she was very proud of all of them. She will be missed.
God Bless
