Joan "MeMo" (Kagan) Mortenson, 65, of Windsor Locks and wife of the late Hugo A. Mortenson, died Sunday, (December 7, 2003) at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. She was born August 7, 1938, in Hartford and was a longtime resident of Windsor Locks. She was a parishioner of St. John's Episcopal Church in the Warehouse Point section of East Windsor. Joan was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family and who would do anything for them. Joan is survived by her dearly loved children, a son, Richard Mortenson; two daughters, Lynne Brown and Laura Contois and much loved son-in-law, Michael Contois. She was predeceased by two sons, Hugh Eric and David Mortenson. She also leaves her grandchildren; her much loved treasures, Michelle, Christie and Jamie Brown, Michael and Thomas Contois, all from Windsor Locks; three brothers, Thomas Kagan, Joseph Kagan and John Kagan, all from Florida. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, December 12, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 92 Main Street, Warehouse Point Section of East Windsor. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery in Windsor Locks. Calling hours will be held from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, December 11, at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Hospital, Health Agency & Hospice, 95 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT 06105. Arrangements are in the care of Windsor Locks Funeral Home.

Dear Lynn,Laura@ Rick, I was so very deeply sadden when I heard the news of your mother passing.I do have some very happy memories with her. remember about ten years ago it started. We took up aorobick classes, then we took up skiing and finally we tried tennis,at which I was very bad at. As a mother she was the best and tops as a grandmother(memo). We are truly going to miss her.Please call on me for anything that you may need Love Nana.
