To Heather and the Dolan family,

My wife, children and myself, have all been touched by the pleasure of John’s company. I know many families slept better in some bad neighborhoods, because John stood watch and did his job. If heaven has a centurion at the gates, I know John will have a piece of that detail.

John always will be a “Trooper” and Connecticut is a better place thanks to the “Dolan Family”. My condolences and god bless.

To Those I love

And those Who love Me

Now that I am gone, release me, let me go

I have so many things to see and do.

You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears

Be Happy that we had so many years.

I gave you my love, you can only guess

How much you gave me in happiness.

I thank you for the love you each have shown.

But now it's time I traveled on alone.

So grieve awhile for me if grieve you must

Then let your grief be comforted by trust.

It's only for a while that we must part.

So keep the memories within your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on.

So if you need me, call and I will come

Though you can't touch me, I'll be near

And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear

All of my love around you soft and dear

And then when you must come this way alone

I'll greet you with a smile and say,

"Welcome Home"

...And if I go,
while you're still here...
Know that I live on,
vibrating to a different measure
---behind a veil you cannot see through.
You will not see me,
so you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we can soar together again
---aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to its fullest and when you need me,
Just whisper my name in your heart
. . .I will be there.

Dear Heather and Jim,

I know no words will help heal your pain right now, but someone once said, "And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." That was John. He was so full of life. He lived every day to the fullest. He was the strongest and funniest man I knew. Remember the fun times. Love, Linda

To Heather and John's whole family, please accept my heartfelt condolences. John was one of my brother's best friends and just the funniest, sweetest guy. What I think most is how (starting with the safety council in grade school) he dedicated to and in fact, gave his life for public service - just an amazing person.
