John Hardy Obituary

John F. Hardy, 51, of Farmington, CT passed away peacefully in his home on October 22, 2015. A beloved father, son and friend, he brought laughter and joy to every soul he encountered. John was born on October 6, 1964 in Memphis, TN to parents Dr. James and Barbara Hardy. His family moved to Bloomfield, CT shortly thereafter, and John was brought up a true New Englander. Quite the troublemaker, he was known for his countless pranks and larger-than-life personality. John was a talented athlete; he attended the University of Mississippi where he played defensive tackle for the Rebels football team. Also quite the businessman, he began his career as a salesman for Pro-Mech and Connecticut Natural Gas before starting his own company, Northeast Energy Partners, in 2000. John's main passion in life was his daughters, Kristen (Hardy) Grimes and Taylor Hardy. Every day he reminded them to cherish their loved ones, work hard, and never take life too seriously. John loved to entertain; he was known for preparing delicious home-cooked dinners and hosting enormous block parties for his family and friends on a regular basis. He will forever be remembered for his infectious warmth and sense of humor. John is survived by his two daughters, Kristen (Hardy) Grimes and her husband Philip of Farmington, CT and Taylor Hardy of New York, NY, his father Dr. James Hardy and mother Barbara of Ft. Myers, FL and brother Hazen and his wife Kathy of East Windsor. He was predeceased by his brother George. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 29 from 4-7 PM. at the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main St., West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 30 at 10:00 AM. in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, 145 Main St., Unionville. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to The Open Hearth 437 Sheldon St., Hartford, CT. 06106. For online condolences and directions please visit www.taylorandmodeen.com

Dear Kristen & Taylor,

The world has lost a wonderful man. A man that made me laugh until I cried and who was without a doubt, the best cook I ever met. Always with Bear and Lily by his side, we shared so many great times and had so much fun together. I will miss him terribly. You have much to be proud of when people mention his name. Always remember....to live in the hearts that we leave behind is not to die. RIP my dear friend!
