John Higgins Obituary

HIGGINS, John R. John R. Higgins, 83, husband of the late Thema (Della Ferra) Higgins passed away on Saturday, (March 4, 2006) surrounded by his loving family, at Governor's House in Simsbury. John was born on August 6, 1922 in Lowell, MA. He leaves behind three children, a son and daughter-in-law, John Higgins, his wife, Gloria, and their children, Jeffrey and Kelly, and their families in Virginia; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Higgins, his wife, Sonia and their family in Florida; a daughter and son-in-law, Claudia Cousins, her husband, Richard, who was like a son to John, and their children, Kristina Capelas and her husband Migel and their daughters, Cecelia and Mykayla of Simsbury, Michael Flaherty and his daughter Kira of Simsbury, Andrew and Allison Cousins of Simsbury, Marci Tatum, her husband Nicolas and their children Madeline, Nicolas and Anna, in Florida, Matthew Cousins and his son, Max in Florida. He also leaves a beloved cousin, Shirley Bell and her family, of Pennsylvania. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Thelma, he was predeceased by his grandson, John Higgins, Jr. and his daughter, Ryan. John's family wishes to thank the staff at Governor's House for caring for John with such dignity and respect. John always talked about how good they were to him. Thanks Again. A memorial service for close family and friends will be celebrated at Vincent's Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury on Wednesday, March 8, at NOON. Memorial donations may be made to the Governor's House, 36 Firetown Road, Simsbury, CT 06070.
