John Antigiovanni "Johnny" Mancinelli

John Antigiovanni "Johnny" Mancinelli died peacefully at home in West Hartford on Saturday (June 1, 2002), with his wife and daughter at his side. John was born in Hartford on June 10, 1924, the son of the late Sarah (Debenedetto) and Nicola Mancinelli. He was also predeceased by his sister, Gloria Cardillo. John grew up in the South End of Hartford, joined the Marines during World War II and came home to run Johnny's Friendly Parking on Market St. in Hartford for 40 years. He especially adored his grandchildren. He had a heart as big as all outdoors and that was what finally gave out. He is survived by his wife, Pat (Johnson) Mancinelli; his daughter, Sara Jean Wittke, her husband Rudi, and granddaughters, Jennifer and Kacie of East Windsor; his stepson, Bob DeSanto and his wife Antoinette "Toni" of Rocky Hill, and his grandaughters, Rosann Bertuli of East Haddam, Ann Marie Vitale of Moosup and Teresa Donahue of Marlborough; and his stepdaughter, Suzanne Mauro, and grandaughter, Mackenzie of East Windsor, NJ; and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Christina Geraci of Hartford; and many nieces and nephews. You can bet he left many good friends, especially John Capetta, Red Healy, Tom Laing and Johnny Angell. Visiting hours at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center St., Manchester will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
