John Susco Obituary

John Anthony "Jack" Susco, 92, of Plainville, beloved husband of Rita (Simone) Susco, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 8, 2020. Born on August 29, 1927, he was a son of the late John and Christine (Santy) Susco. A lifelong resident, he was a 1945 graduate of Plainville High School, and continued to be an instrumental part of their reunions. He enlisted in the US Navy as a minor during WW II, was discharged in 1946, and drafted into the US Marine Corps in 1952. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1954. Jack and Rita were married shortly after, and they settled in his childhood home that he helped his father build, where they shared 62 years of marriage and life adventures, raising a loving family of four with a dedicated routine of working hard and playing hard. He was a heavy equipment sales representative for TB Holmes, and, after attending the Hartford Institute of Accounting, assisted with tax accounting for many local businesses, and retired from Ideal Forging as their Treasurer. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, the Knights of Columbus, and AARP, and enjoyed his daily ritual of walking the same 3 mile loop around town for many years. The original "Jack" of all trades, he put 100% effort into all of his jobs and hobbies, spending many days in his backyard machine shop, working on cars, painting, and gardening; and weekends fulfilling two of his favorite pastimes, going to the beach with his family and making wine with his friends. Family vacations consisted of road trips and ranches, making lifelong friends along the way. Remembered for his smile that could brighten any room, his eclectic love for music, his consistency and passion for life, he will be greatly missed leaving his family with many cherished memories. In addition to his wife, Rita, he leaves his children Diane Lebel and her husband, Robert of Bristol, John and his wife, Marie of Southington, Lorna Donofrio of Rocky Hill and Rhonda Conte and her husband, Paul of Plainville; his grandchildren, Dustin Lebel and his wife, Stephanie, Tyler Lebel, Jennifer Roffer and her husband, Mark, Ryan Lebel, Austin and Rianna Susco, Justin, Jason, and Teresa Donofrio, and Jillian, Samantha, and Jake Conte; and his great-grandson, Jack Christopher Lebel. He also leaves his brother, John Walonoski, and sister Mary Jane Malespini and her husband, Sebastian; along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Vincent Susco. Honoring Jack and his fellow veterans, he may be remembered with contributions to the House of Heroes CT, 3000 Whitney Ave, Suite 233, Hamden CT 06518 or www.hohct.org Funeral services in celebration of Jack's life will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Committal services with military honors will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Family and friends may gather on Sunday, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Met Jack and Rita at Eastover Resort and have maintained a wonderful friendship over the years. Jack was a warm, sweet guy and always made you feel good just talking with him. Had a great smile and laugh. He was always a joy to be around. I know I speak for my friends when I say we will miss this very special guy. Rest In Peace dear Jack.
