John Woltersdorf Obituary

John E. "JW" Woltersdorf, 78, of Windsor, beloved husband of 54 years to Arlene (Krist) Woltersdorf, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, October 1, 2018. Born in Hartford to the late Frederick Jr. and Mary (Buckavich) Woltersdorf, he was a lifelong resident of Windsor and served in the US Air National Guard. John was manager for many years at Schaller Tire in Bloomfield. He loved spending time outdoors, especially perfecting his lawn and going to the beach. In retirement he enjoyed crossword puzzles and napping with his cat, "Nosey" Rosie. Besides his wife Arlene, he is survived by his daughters, Christine Gorton and her husband Steven, and Denise Woltersdorf; his brother, Frederick Woltersdorf III; and his grandson Jeffrey Gorton. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Sharon Woltersdorf and his sisters, Judith Carlson and Mary Jane Conroy. His family will receive friends on Sunday, October 7 from 3 PM to 6 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave Windsor. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 AM Monday, October 8 at St. Joseph Church 1747 Poquonock Ave Windsor followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windsor. The family would like to thank Jack Cooley and Burt Aubin for their lasting friendships. They would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Newington and West Haven VA hospitals for their expert care. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Cancer Survivor's Day, c/o Donna Connery, Comprehensive Cancer Center, Building 2, 5th Floor, 950 Campbell Ave., West Haven, CT 06516.
