Jose Martinez Del Valle Obituary





Martinez Del Valle, Jose

Jose "Papi" Martinez Del Valle, passed away peacefully after a long illness on July 27, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Zenaida "Zeni" Martinez; three sons, Tedman David Martinez, Henry Martinez, and Jose Rene Martinez; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sister, Angel, Alfredo, and Alicia, who live in Puerto Rico. Jose was born April 1, 1923. He was drafted in 1943. Jose served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an anti-aircraft artillery searchlight operator. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and received several medals of honor for distinction in the service. After the war Jose moved his family to Bronx, NY and worked for 30 years for the AG Meyer Company in Brooklyn, NY before retiring. He returned to Puerto Rico in 1978 before relocating to New London in 1990. He later moved to Hartford with his wife of 61 years.
His remains will be sent to Puerto Rico where he was born.

my deepest thoughts and prayers to the Martinez and Del-Valle familia. all of our veterans will always have that special place when they go home.
