Josefina "Fini" Sustache

1953 - 2022

Josefina "Fini" Sustache, 69, of East Hartford, loving wife of over 43 years of Pablo Torres, peacefully went to be with Our Lord on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at her home after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico on August 16, 1953, a daughter of the late Aniceto and Maximina Sustache, she had been a resident of Hartford for several years prior to moving to East Hartford in 1998. Having earned her Master's Degree in Education, Josefina was employed by the city of Hartford Board of Education for 26 years prior to her retirement in 2013. A devout catholic, Josefina was a faithful communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, walking, listening to music, and going out to dinner. Most of all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her family. In addition to her beloved husband Pablo, she is survived by her son, Lieutenant Colonel Pablo J. Torres of Suffolk, VA with the U.S. Marine Corps; two daughters, Marlena Torres of East Hartford with whom she made her home, and Idelisa Torres and her husband Alan Estevez of Manchester; two brothers, Jose and Aniceto Sustache; five sisters, Carmen, Maria, Florita, Candida, and Maria Sustache; three adored grandchildren, Elicia Estevez, Adrian Almeida, and Austin Almeida; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Funeral service will be Wednesday (October 12th) at 9 am from the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Christopher Church of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday (October 11th) from 4 – 7 pm.
