Joselyn Margaret Switz

1949 - 2022

Joselyn "Josie" Margaret Switz, loving daughter of the late Joseph Switz and Rose Marie (Vallera) Switz, went home to our Lord on June 10, 2022. Josie was born in Hartford on October 4, 1949, and lived in West Hartford for many years before moving to Newington to live with her older sister Valerie. She also lived for a few years with her caregiver Sheila Walten, whom she loved very much. In 2017, she moved to March Inc's Woodbridge Group home in Manchester. The staff took very good care of her and we are forever grateful, especially to Kay Nelson and Jessie Matthews. Special thanks to Manchester Memorial Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Joselyn during her last days. Joselyn worked for several years at Friendly's at Corbins Corner and for 15 years at Stop & Shop in Newington. She was a very special person who loved music, loved to dance and loved her stuffed dog Snoopy. Josie was so loved by her family and all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. She leaves her sister Elaine Stevens and husband Jay, her niece Tracy Chmielecki and her husband Andy, and her nephew Robert Stavinsky, Jr. She was pre-deceased by her sister Valerie McCarrel and her brother-in-law Mack. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Friday, June 17, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
