Joseph Halloran Obituary

Joseph J. Halloran Jr., devoted husband to the late Anna E. Danyluk for almost 68 years and a resident of South Windsor since 1962, passed peacefully in his sleep on Monday, December 18th, 2023.

Joe was born on August 17th, 1932, son of the late Joseph and Ann (Haertl) Halloran of Windsor Locks, CT.

Joe retired from Aetna in 1995 after 45 years of employment. He was the 50th employee hired by the insurance company at its inception. Joe was the first large scale computer operator for the Group Division – IBM 705 and 7074.

He also served as a Medic in the Army during the Korean conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post 133.

Joseph is survived by his three children, Maureen McCarthy (William) of Westborough, MA, James Halloran (Barbara) of East Windsor, CT and Kevin Halloran (Eileen) of Brookline, N.H. and Wells, ME.

He also leaves seven grandchildren: Megan Noyes (Ben), Trevor McCarthy, Devin McCarthy (Cristina Thibault), Tarah Foley (Conor), Connor Halloran, Taylor Mann (Stephen) and James Halloran (Margo Rodriguez).

Joe also leaves many great grandchildren who brought him so much joy in his final years: Carter and Owen Noyes, Elinor McCarthy, Olivia Foley, Christopher and Audrey Mann and another great granddaughter on the way.

He also leaves his sister-in-law, Zelda Halloran of Texas.

In addition to his beloved wife and his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Lynskey, his brother Thomas Halloran, his nephew, Mark Lynskey and his Godson, Bill Case.

Joseph's family would like to thank their cousin George Lukach who was a regular visitor to Joe's home over the years, his devoted Caregiver, Agnes Romotzki, who made his final year as best as it could be and Alicja Syta Ladyzynska and her husband, Gino, who kept him comfortable in his final weeks.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, Spring Street in Windsor Locks at 11 am Wednesday, December 27th, 2023, followed by the burial of Joseph and Anna at St Mary's Cemetery. There will be a calling hour from 9am-10am at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor prior to the service.

My sincere sympathy to Joe's family and friends. I remember him from Aetna, a kind man, indeed. Imagine my surprise finding out that I would be Cantoring for his funeral Mass, it was an honor for me. After his children delivered their heartfelt eulogy, I had to challenge myself to sing farewell to him. So Joe, may the choirs of angels come to greet you, may they lead you to Paradise...rest in peace...

Saying goodbye to a very old work friend I met in my early Aetna career back in 1962 in Group Data Processing. Joe was a nice guy and I am sure the family will miss him as he has gone on to his eternal life reward for a life well led, Rest in peace Joe, God Bless
