Joseph Minoski Obituary
Joseph J. Minoski, Sr., of Las Vegas, NV, died peacefully on Monday, (November 12, 2001) at Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas, NV, with his family by his side. He had endured a long and courageous battle with his illness. He was born in Montclair, PA on September 11, 1927. He lived in Southington for much of his life and considered it his true home. He served three years in the Merchant Marines and four years in the U.S. Navy where he participated in the Korean War. He sailed around the world several times during his tour of duty. He had made a career of working in the electrical trade as a project manager for Ferguson Electric for 26 years from which he eventually retired. During his employment he managed the special projects and service divisions. Joe was a member of the VFW in Plainville. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing in Maine where he had constructed a log cabin. As a child he served as an altar boy in church. His strong devotion to his eight grandchildren was sincere in there guidance and was always there to help them in sporting events. He had a passion for any and all sports and was a season ticket holder for all Whaler games. He was a very patriotic man who loved his country and all that it stood for. His life was always placed second to his wife, family and friends. A devoted family man he is survived by his lovely wife, Marie Minoski of Las Vegas, NV for who he has been married to for 48 years. He is also survived by his two sisters, Anne Caudill and Mary Hines of Mont Claire, PA; daughter, Betsy Martin of Las Vegas, NV; sons, Rick Minoski of Las Vegas, NV, Joey Minoski of Prospect, Tommy Minoski of Southington; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his courage, devotion, strong will and tenderness. A memorial mass will be held in his behalf for friends and family on Friday, November 16, 10 a.m. at the St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol Street, Southington. A formal funeral is being held in Las Vegas TODAY, November 14.
