Joseph Scioscio Obituary



Joseph D. Scioscio, 80, of East Hartford, beloved husband of Marlene (Marinelli) Scioscio, died Monday, June 2, 2014 at Harford Hospital. He was born on April 28, 1934 in Hartford and was the son of the late Anna K. (D'Esopo) Scioscio and Michael P. Scioscio, Sr. Joe was a Sergeant in the Connecticut Army National Guard, Unit 712 Ordinance at Bradley Field, where he was a heavy equipment mechanic for 42 years. He was an accomplished drummer who played in his own band, the former "Royal Knights" with his cousin and brother-in-law, Daniel J. D'Esopo. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, driving his red Pontiac G-6 and spending time at Burwell's Beach in Woodmont. He was sadly predeceased by his son, Joseph A. Scioscio. In addition to his wife Marlene, he is survived by his daughter, Donna Lee Bolduc and husband Rick Hemingway of East Hartford; his brother, Michael P. Scioscio, Jr. and wife Judith of Bloomfield; his granddaughter, Kara Lynn Bolduc and several cousins. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. I agree with Leon. Joe was very funny and a very friendly fellow. We had a hot dog together at Augie's in East Hartford in 2001 and he managed to tell me a joke. Time sure flies by. Joe will be missed by many people.
