Joseph S. Tine

Joseph S. Tine, 78, of Higganum, beloved husband of Claire D. (Jasmin) Tine, died on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Hartford Hospital. Joe was born in Middletown, son of the late Salvatore F. and Mary L. (Francis) Tine. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner of Tine's Citgo in Higganum. Joe was a member of the Masons Granite Lodge 119 A.F.&A.M., Haddam. He was past president of Haddam Little League. In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by a son, Duane J. Tine and his wife Wendy of East Hampton; a daughter, Theresa Ann Benedetto and her husband Douglas of Wethersfield; eight step-children: Diana, Amy, Robert, Kenneth, John, Timothy, Sharon, and Catherine; and three grandchildren: Bryden Tine, and Austin and Marissa Benedetto. He was predeceased by two stepchildren, Wendy and Franklin, Jr. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 26, at 10 am, at Higganum Congregational Church, 23 Parsonage Rd, Higganum. Burial is at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call on Monday from 7 to 9 pm, at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St, Middletown.
