Joseph Tironi Obituary

TIRONI, Joseph E., Sr. Joseph E. Tironi, Sr., 73, lifelong resident of Middletown, died Sunday, (October 11, 2009) at Middlesex Hospital. He was born in Middletown on September 14, 1936, the son of the late Emilio and Mary (Cortese) Tironi. Prior to his retirement, Joe was employed by the Park & Recreation Dept. of the City of Middletown and later Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. A peacetime veteran, he served with the U.S. Army, a member of the Elks Lodge, an avid hunter and sports fan; especially the New York Giants and New York Yankees. He is survived by his three children, Mary (Tironi) Hartin of Crowley, TX, Joseph Tironi, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Chalfont, PA and Linda (Tironi) Kral and her husband Dean of Middletown; six grandchildren, Patricia and Michael Hartin, Gabriel and Gianna Tironi and Emily and Olivia Kral; and his former wife, Patricia (Woods) Tironi. He was predeceased by his sisters, Josephine (Tironi) Brown and Elsie Tironi; and infant brother, Walter Tironi. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy in St. Pius X Church, Middletown. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at the Biega Funeral Home Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to American Lung Association of New England, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108.

Dad, I miss you. Today was a very hard day, and I swear, I felt you there encouraging me not to give up. I feel so blessed to have had that time with you near the end.

Our condolences are with Joe's family. We have many fond memories of good times with Josie, Don, Elsie and Joe. Joe Jr. is right; they are all having a card game together again. It is important to know Joe isn't suffering any longer. You will all be in our prayers.

HI Mary and Family;
So sorry for your lose. I know how hard it is to loose your loved one.
Mary I wish I could be there for you at this time. You were there for me when my Dad died. But do know this you are in my prayers and thoughts. You and your family. I prayer God will put all in his hands and comfort you all. To me the thing that helped me more than anything was knowing my dad didn't suffer any more. And that he had both of his legs again. And could walk and run again. Find something good to remember about your Dad and hold on to that memory for ever. And as the days go by it will get a little easier to handle. Dear Mary, you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers for the loss of your dad. Please know I feel your sorrow and pain, you were there for me when I lost my mom back in April and I will be here for you when you get back to Crowley, home.
