Josephine Mascolo Obituary

Josephine D. Mascolo, 90, beloved wife of Joseph P. Mascolo of West Hartford passed away on September 14, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Rosina Gallitto DeGrandi and the late Sebastian DeGrandi of West Hartford and the sister of the late Joseph A. DeGrandi of McClean, Virginia. She was born on May 24, 1928 in Hartford. She attended the Brown School, Henry Barnard Jr. High School and Hartford Public High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She graduated in 1945. She graduated from Saint Joseph College, now the University of Saint Joseph, in 1949. She taught in the Hartford area for over 24 years. She was an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist at the Church of Saint Timothy and was a member of the pastoral team, visiting the sick at area hospitals. She loved books and instilled in her children a love of books. In her retirement she traveled to many places including Egypt, China, Greece, Italy, Mexico, and Turkey, to name a few. Besides her husband, she is survived by her four children, Joseph J. Mascolo of West Hartford, Dr. Judith M. Mascolo and her husband Thao Le of West Hartford, Elizabeth M. Sullivan and her husband Mark of Bozeman, Montana and Rosanne M. Mascolo of West Hartford; five grandchildren, Connor J. Sullivan and his wife Mariafe of Los Angeles, CA, Bridger L. Sullivan of Bozeman, Montana and Allegra Rose Le, Gianna Maria Le and Christina Anne Le all of West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 19th at 11:00 AM at the Church of Saint Timothy, 1116 North Main Street, West Hartford. Internment will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. There are no calling hours. Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be made online at www.molloyfuneralhome.com.
