Judith E. Pedersen, 72, of East Hartland, beloved wife for 30 years of the late Robert N. Pedersen, Jr., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 13, 2021, after a battle with ALS, which took her life too quickly. Born in Hartford on February 1, 1949, daughter of the late Ole Andrew and Agnes (Skaret) Kittelsen, she was a lifelong resident of East Hartland and a graduate of Gilbert High School, Class of 1967. After high school, Judy continued her education at King's College in New York, and soon began pursuing her passion of serving the Lord on many mission trips through the church. Later on, she attended Northwestern Connecticut Community College where she received her Associates Degree in Computer Science. While her two sons were growing up in Hartland, Judy worked at the Hartland Elementary School as an administrative assistant and later worked as a paralegal for a law firm in Winsted and more recently for Albrecht & Zelman in Bloomfield where she stayed until her retirement. Shortly after the birth of her first grandchild, Judy devoted herself again to her family and stopped working to completely immerse herself in the care and activities of her five grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Brethren Church in East Hartland where she served on several ministries over the years including several years as a Sunday School Teacher and many years as a member of the Hilltop Women's Ministry. Judy was very active throughout her life and loved sports. She enjoyed walking and running, watching UConn Women's Basketball games, and entering her football picks each week with her family. Judy loved her community and the beauty of nature that surrounded her home in East Hartland. Every spring and summer she enjoyed tending to the flower gardens around her home and looked forward to sitting outside while reading a good book or her Bible which she faithfully read for an hour every day. Most of all, Judy will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family whom she cared for immensely. She never missed a game, recital, or activity that her children or grandchildren were involved in and took great pleasure in spending any free time she had with them. She leaves two sons, Joshua R. Pedersen and his wife Julie of Simsbury, and Benjamin J. Pedersen and his wife Cyomara of Enfield; five grandchildren, Logan, Ethan, Niyah, Cole, and Madison Pedersen; two brothers, Arne Kittelsen and his wife Marcia of Granby, and Raymond Kittelsen and his wife Linda of Shoreview, MN; two sisters, Charlotte Anderson and Thelma Olsen and her husband Edward all of East Hartland; her father-in-law, Robert Pedersen, Sr. of East Hartland; two sisters-in-law, Joanne Pedersen of East Hartland and Linda Olin of North Granby; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her loving husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Clarence Kittelsen; a sister, Marian Rafoss; her mother-in-law, Ruth Pedersen; and three brothers-in-law, John Pedersen, Alfred Anderson, and Toralf Rafoss. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, June 17, 5-8 p.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 18, 10 a.m., at the Bethany Lutheran Brethren Church, 116 Walnut Hill Rd., East Hartland. Burial will follow in East Hartland Cemetery.
