Julius J. PASCULANO

PASCULANO, Julius J. Julius J. ("Red") Pasculano, passed away Thursday (November 18, 2009), at Middlesex Memorial Hospital, Middletown, following a short illness. Born in Middletown May 10, 1907, he later moved to Portland and most recently resided with his daughter in Glastonbury. He was predeceased by his wife of 76 years, Jenny (Messina) Pasculano. He enjoyed fishing, planting a tree or a shrub or two, crafting and fixing at his workbench. He especially enjoyed cooking, the popular music of the 1930's and 1940's and the company of good friends. He was able to satisfy those passions when, during the post depression years, he and a friend, John Fazzino, opened the Modern Grille in Middletown, which offered a kitchen for cooking, a jukebox full of music, and within a short time, many new people he would come to know and enjoy. He thoroughly enjoyed what he did. The Grille was a Main Street fixture for many years. He was called into service in March of 1944 during World War II, stationed primarily in Germany where he was part of a U.S. Army Medical Unit attached to the 116th Evacuation Hospital. He was honorably discharged in November 1945. He is survived by a daughter, Lorraine Tubridy of Glastonbury; a son, Richard Pasculano and his wife Lynne of Greenwich; a granddaughter, Suzanne McGinn and her husband Dr. Neil McGinn of Cape Elizabeth, ME; grandsons, Mark Pasculano and his wife Deborah of Needham, MA, and Sean Tubridy and his wife Becky of St. Paul, MN; and six great grandsons. In Middletown, calling hours are Friday, December 4, 8:30-9:30 a.m., at the D'Angelo Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield.
