To Karen's family, please accept our sincere sympathy at the loss of your mom, Karen, back in September. We were so shocked to learn of her passing in today's paper and also to learn it was the result of complications from that dreadful disease Alzheimer! Karen is my first cousin. Her dad, Joseph Amaio, was my dad's brother, Anthony Amaio. Of all the Amaio grandchildren, only Karen, Paula Amaio Spero, and myself, Susan Amaio, were of the same age and we have many memories of fun times with her during our growing up years. Along with all the amazing accomplishments noted in her obituary, I would also add her wonderful sense of humor which made her welcoming to be around! While her move to Texas separated physical family connections, it was great for us to see her again at the Amaio Family Reunion roughly eighteen years ago in Bloomfield, CT. Prayers and hugs to you all.
