PHELPS, Kathleen M.
Kathleen M. Phelps, 70, of Staffordville, CT, passed away on Tuesday (March 13, 2012) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was born in Stafford Springs, CT, daughter of the late Clyde and Ann (Petz) Phelps. Kathy was a graduate of Stafford High School, Central Connecticut State University, and received her Master's Degree and Sixth year from the University of Connecticut. She worked as a reading consultant in Manchester for the majority of her career. She was a member of the Stafford Library Board and was an Incorporator, Stafford Fire Department No.1 Ladies Auxiliary, the Stafford Women's Club, Stafford Grange No. 1, and was a volunteer at St. Edward School. She enjoyed traveling, photography, dining out, scrap booking, outings with her Stafford High 59ers group, playing cards, watching the Red Sox and UConn Women, and most of all a "good nap". Kathy also enjoyed organizing Halloween parties at the Firehouse for the Staffordville children, and Easter egg hunts for her family and friends. She also supported several foster children through Save the Children for the past 28 years. Kathy is survived by her two sisters, Diane Fiore and her husband Michael of Staffordville, CT, and Valerie Gagnon and her husband Richard of Staffordville, CT; nephews, Brett Fiore of Staffordville, CT, Ross Gagnon and his wife Megan of Fairfield, CT, and US Coast Guard LT Travis Gagnon of Corpus Christi, TX; niece, Lauren Gagnon of Staffordville, CT; and many close friends.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012, with a procession forming by 9 a.m. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Edward Church, High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank all of the dedicated staffs of Home Instead Agency of Tolland, DaVita Kidney Center of Vernon, Evergreen Health Care Center, and Manchester Memorial Hospital. Just heard about Kathleen passing away. I have been her dental hygienist for about 30 years. She was always such an upbeat person,great smile and laugh. On behalf of the staff here at Dr. LaPorta's office (formerly Dr Squatrito),we send you our deepest sympathy...we will miss her.
