Keiko Sato Obituary

Keiko Sato, 62, died Monday, March 2, 2015. She was born in Tokyo, Japan, November 12, 1952, to Masao and Hatsue (Shimada) Sato and grew up in Yokohama. She graduated Jissen Joshi Daigaku (Jissen Women's University) and worked as a fashion coordinator, stylist and buyer of women's apparel for a major Japanese retailer, as well as assistant to the president of a Tokyo firm that imported Italian designer furniture. In America, she worked in real estate, as a chef and Japanese language tutor, but her most rewarding role was that of wife and mother. While she is remembered for her innate sense of style, attention to detail and appreciation of all things beautiful, as well as her own striking appearance, her many friends and family will most miss her gentle nature, modest demeanor, compassionate heart and generous spirit. She was fiercely loyal to, and protective of, her family and tirelessly did her duty as wife and mother with zeal and loving kindness. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Osborne, her son Grant and daughter Danielle, all of West Simsbury; her mother Hatsue and brother Hideo and his wife Hiroko of Yokohama as well as other surviving family members in Japan, including niece Kayo and her husband Tsutomu Endo and their son Hayato and daughter Aya; nephew Junya and his wife Miyuki Sato and their daughter Haruka. She was predeceded in death by her father Masao. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10th at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road in West Simsbury, with a reception to follow in Russell Hall. Donations in Keiko's memory may be made to Gifts of Love in Avon, Simsbury Social Services or the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
