Keith Wallace, Jr.
KeithWallace Washington, Jr., 23, of Windsor, passed away on Sunday, (July 17, 2011), in Hartford. Born in Hartford on January 19, 1988, he was the son of Sheena Renee McDonald of Windsor and the late Keith Wallace Washington, Sr. Keith attended Windsor High School before transferring to Weaver High School. After graduating with the Class of 2006, he continued his education at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. Keith was a natural athlete who excelled in every sport that he participated in. Besides his mother, he leaves to mourn his passing, a brother, Keith Devon Washington of East Hartford; a sister, Keyona Renee Washington of Windsor; his paternal grandmother, Evelyn Washington of Windsor; his maternal grandparents, Earline Harp of Montezuma, GA and William Henry Asberry of Americus, GA; his great grandmother, Zola Asberry of Hartford; nine uncles; eight aunts, including a special aunt, Barbara Allen of Hartford; and a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 12 p.m. at the Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, 2051 Main St., Hartford. Interment services will be held on Monday, July 25, 10 a.m., at Spring Grove Cemetery, Hartford. His family will receive friends on Saturday, July 23, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., prior to the service at the church. The family has entrusted the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home with the arrangements. It's been 1 year today since you went away yet the pain of losing you is here is here to stay. Although it's hard to move on with our day to day we keep on moving because you would want it that way. We now have an angel watching over us and in you we will always trust. So stay cool until we meet again although you're gone this is definitely not the end.
I have been thinking about you all day today and decided to write you a poem.

I remember in middle school you were quick to defend the girls, and I remember every time you defended me. They were good times, innocent times...you know, except that one time with the firecrackers at recess behind the Bloomfield rec center ... But you were always, always a good person to be around and always making everyone smile. Everyone here has lost a good man from their lives, but heaven has gained one heck of an angel up there. Rest easy Keith - so long as your name is never forgotten, you'll never truly be gone.

Keith, this is so unreal & so unexpected. Only way the family is coping is by sticking together which is one of the best ways. It's been a long time since we've all come together & chilled at the spot like the family use to. There are no words to describe the utter grief that I am feeling right now, and I cannot possibly imagine the shock and sorrow that has been thrust on your family as well.
I will always remember fondly the experiences Keith and I had from the school hall in Sage Park/ Windsor High School to the football field and hanging out together. It is true that he was taken from us too soon, and I think you share my sentiment that it feels a little unfair that such a smart and talented young man's life has ended with so much living left to do. It is my firm belief that the bad things happen to good people serve a greater good, and Keith's death will, I believe, teach us all something if we only let ourselves be taught. Right now, we all are trudging through the mourning process, but with support from friends and family. I think we can find ourselves whole again.
During this difficult time for your family, I would like to extend a helping hand if you will have it. I think of you two as the second family for me I almost entered into, so please dont hesitate to call me for any reason. Please accept my sincerest condolences and know that I am here with you through it all if you need me.
