Kenneth Eifes Obituary

Kenneth Robert Eifes, 76, of Canton, CT, husband to the love of his life, Barbara Jo (Lewis) Eifes, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2023.

Kenneth was born March 18, 1947 to Beatrice & Joseph Eifes in New York City. He is predeceased by his brother Robert. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jo Eifes, his daughters Sharon & Bill Lawrence, Julia & Tim Downey and his beloved Deborah Eifes. Ken was blessed with 6 grandchildren: Jenna, Kayla, Courtney, Marisa, Warren and Matilda.

Kenneth is a proud graduate of Farmington High School and Vermont Technical College.

Ken is a noble Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army, and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sargent, 5th Battalion, 16th Artillery, 4th Infantry Division.

Ken was the President and owner of Industrial Mechanical Services HVAC Company for more than 30 years.

Ken was an avid outdoorsman and was happiest when immersed in nature. He loved donating his time to teach others about wildlife and conservation, and volunteered as a master wildlife conservationist and a Chief CE/FS and Bow-hunter Instructor. He was dedicated to helping people pursue their hobbies in hunting while preserving integrity and ethics beyond all. He proudly served and participated at the Harwinton Rod and Gun Club and was a certified antler measurer for the Northeast Big Buck Club, the Pope and Young Club, and the Boone and Crockett Club. One of his other favorite outdoor pastimes was spending time tending to his plants in his vegetable garden.

He was a basketball junkie and UConn's biggest fan! Ken loved learning, coaching and teaching the game of basketball. He took every opportunity to be around the game, coaching his daughters' teams and other youth programs. He was a high school varsity & assistant varsity coach for Canton and Farmington teams. Ken was known as "the shot doctor" at summer camps and was a dedicated AAU basketball coach. He also loved playing and watching softball, and dedicated time as a Canton Little League coach. He continually served his local community with participation in several clubs, teams and boards. He was a longtime member of the Unionville Lions Club (President 1982) and the Canton Booster Club.

Ken loved cars and mechanical engineering, and over several years built a model A from the ground up, and was honored with Model A awards from Nichols Field in Stowe, VT.

I have such fond memories of Ken. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a great teamate and friend. I will always remember having a beer with some good banter at the French Club, where we played softball together.

My deepest sympathy to Barbara Jo, and the rest of his family. Played softball in Farmington with Kenny for many years. He was 10 years my senior, and just a great guy to be around. He was a smart, kind man. May God bless you all with peace during this very difficult time.

Barbara, I remember how much Ken helped me out with my Log cabin. I had the state of the art furnace, in my place. I always remember our softball days and especially when he played for the Frend Model in New Britain. Many problems were solved after those games, especially after a few beers. I am saddened by his loss, but I have great memories of him

Ken was always a positive person to me. Each and every time we met he was sure to ask about my family first then on to my previous hunting season. He would offer his vast knowledge and advice to help improve my outdoor knowledge. Ken did this for so many. These invaluable life lessons have and will be past on to my children.
