Kevin Stone Obituary

Kevin J. Stone, 58, of Granby, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Hartford Hospital after a courageous battle with MS. Born in Chicago, IL, he was the beloved son of Martha Stout and the late Richard Stone, and stepson of the late Robert Stout. Kevin graduated from Simsbury High School Class of 1974. He loved music and spent most of his career as a sound and light technician for many local bands including Street Temperature. Kevin also worked as a DJ at the General Store and enjoyed being a laser light artist at the Gengras Planetarium at the Children's Museum in West Hartford. Besides his mother, he leaves a sister, Beverly Stone; and a nephew, Trevor Coulombe; and many relatives. A celebration of Kevin's life will be held in the spring at a date to be announced. His family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter, 659 Tower Avenue, First Floor, Hartford, CT 06112; or a charity of choice. Just found out about Kevin's passing. He was the bestman at my wedding in 1978. Years of great memories of us working together at the General Store. Missed but never forgotten. Brian Lamb

I have only known Kevin during the turmoil of his courageous battle with MS. It was uncomfortable, at least, for him and down right painful much of the time... but he was strong, patient and forgiving. Whenever he was asked what could be done for him he always reminded, only that which he could not do himself. Tears are shed for family and friends, a sigh for Kevin. I know he is at peace. I miss you my friend.

When I heard about Kevin's passing it caused a heavy heart for Kevin was a good friend. Kevin and I had many a debate on many nights once the music was turned off and those front doors locked at the end of the end of the night at the General Store
With our love for so many different types of music our opinions went back and forth but never did we disagree! Kevin was just that way, he challenged me and I'd challenge him but we always agreed. I was fortunate enough to see his stars shine at the planetarium. Kevin is a talent that will be missed dearly this I do know.
RIP my friend.
